Maheen’s Story
Maheen's personal and professional journey is a rich mosaic of life experiences that reflects her unwavering commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity and understanding by bridging the gap between different cultures and individuals. A daughter of blended Iranian and European descent, Maheen was born and raised in a small town in rural Illinois. This predominantly homogeneous environment, while uncomfortable at the time, instilled in her a sense of curiosity and a drive to seek beauty and value from all cultures, especially those that are underrepresented. Her academic journey took her to the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Communications and Education. After college, Maheen embarked on a transformative journey to Guatemala, where she spent five years working closely with the indigenous Mayan population, connecting with international buyers, and deepening her appreciation of the foundational connections between people. This pivotal experience laid the groundwork for her Master's in Organization Development from the University of San Francisco. Throughout her life, Maheen has been shaped by her cherished relationships with her family, friends, and mentors. From her family of origin to her chosen family, they have modeled and molded her kindness, patience, and joy. These connections have shaped Maheen into the compassionate, insightful, and dedicated professional she is today. Now residing in the lively and colorful Bay Area, Maheen has called California home for 14 years, thriving amidst its rich cultural diversity and breathtaking natural beauty. Her love for the outdoors is apparent in her passion for backpacking and exploring the Sierra wilderness, finding solace and inspiration in nature's embrace.
