“I help leaders move past barriers. I’ve overcome big challenges in my life and know the secret is having someone who’s got your back, someone you trust who shows up when you need them and gives you perspective. I like being that person for others.”

The Full Human Being

James has worked in industries where physical challenges can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. Making work more human for James means bringing care to the workplace—caring about people’s safety and wellbeing, minimizing their discomfort, and treating them with respect and dignity. This requires getting to know people as humans, not just workers, understanding their needs and their lives outside of work, and leading with love.

How James Can Help You Transform Your Organization

James’ industry grit, executive experience, and organizational expertise can help leaders in even the most challenging fields build a culture where people feel valued and bring their very best to the workplace. Whether in places where the physical conditions are harsh, like on an oil rig or repairing train tracks, or in a climate-controlled office setting, James knows that loving leadership is vital. It’s not just hands and feet working, but a whole person, whose head has to be in the right place.

Human-centered leaders have the power to transform the way people work. James brings a wide range of human-centered development tools and leadership strategies to the table. James always starts from a place of love and care. Learn how to lead with care and set and communicate expectations that hold people accountable in loving ways.  James’ Story

James spent 20 years in engineering and corporate leadership before setting out on the adventure of becoming an entrepreneur. He opened an art gallery, started and sold a home building business, and launched a mold remediation venture that he grew into a $1 million-a-year service company. The joy for James, as both an executive and entrepreneur, came from working with people and growing leaders. In 2013, he sold his company and become vice president of operations for a boutique consulting firm, where he eventually began executive coaching.

James earned his master’s degree in Organization Development from the Graziadio Business School at Pepperdine University in 2019—thirty years after beginning his first degree in mechanical engineering. He also holds a certificate in Executive Coaching from the Hudson Institute of Coaching in Santa Barbara. James grew up in Michigan and now lives near the California beach, where he hikes, cycles, builds model railroads, and enjoys being with friends and family.
