Meet Julie - The Full Human Being

Julie is in the business of connecting people to themselves through intentional laugher. In her own words, “everything I do is about being more human”. She teaches that genuine connection with others only comes after connection to oneself and she equips her participants with these connection skills. Julie truly believes in the mantra of ‘More Love, Less Fear’ in an applied sense to the self. In other words, the more we love ourselves, the more we are empowered to love others. Julies explains that connection to oneself leads to a more authentic being and this authentic being is where the true goodness of the individual shines through. It’s in this authenticity that we are able to best impact our larger community, whatever that may be: work, family, school, neighborhood, church, synagogue.

Julie is uniquely gifted in her ability to stop, pause, and notice. This strength to fully connect to the present moment serves her personally and professionally. She naturally notices others’ emotions and reservations allowing her to help participants overcome specific obstacles, like the fear of judgment from others. She would love to work with you to bring peace and compassion to yourself, your family, your community, your country, and our world.

Julie’s Story

Julie is originally from New York but has called Washington home since 1995. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Indiana University School of Music and her Master’s degree in Counseling from Antioch University. She opened her own private practice specializing in mental health services supporting individuals dealing with grief and loss, as well as families trying to navigate autism diagnoses.

Julie found out about Laughter Yoga almost through happenstance when she was facilitating a children’s grief group and several people walked up to her asking where the Laughter Yoga event was. Her interest was piqued so she continued her research on the topic until, in 2014, Julie traveled to Bangalore, India, and Laughter Yoga University and was certified to be a Laughter Yoga Teacher by Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga. Once certified, Julie began teaching Laughter Yoga through courses, events, and keynotes all over the globe.

In 2017, Julie found even further clarification and crystallization of her purpose and passion through the tragic events of the Charlottesville riots. She was ignited by this spectacle of hate and her innate deep longing to infuse joy in the world grew louder and stronger. Julie took it upon herself to bring as much joy to as many people as possible. This is what fuels the work she does today. Infusing the World with Joy

Julie’s mission on earth is to infuse joy into every situation that she’s in. Her classes and keynotes center on experiencing and teaching the four elements of joy: music, dance, laughter, and play. Julie wants to see the world, especially the professional world, open up to new possibilities especially the insights that come from these elements of joy. She encourages all that work with her to be themselves, open up to the possibilities of learning new things, regularly practice kindness, laugh out loud, and act in respect of others. Julie has a warmth, authenticity, and joy-filled presence that marks every engagement she takes part in.

Her classes are accessible to all people and she specializes in working with all abilities. Drawing from her training as a mental health counselor, Julie brings her laughter yoga skills to uniquely support any community going through crisis, change, grief, or loss.
