A Human Workplace Olympia gathers August 23rd

Experience the Science of Awe at A Human Workplace Olympia on August 23. Meet under the gigantic oak tree just outside the Helen Sommers Building, on the Washington State Capitol Campus, 106-11th Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98504

It's summer and a perfect time to gather outside on Washington State's Capitol Campus grounds in Olympia (rain or shine!) to experience the science of awe and its benefits at A Human Workplace Olympia. This will be our second annual gathering focused on awe; last year it was the favorite experience of many!

We humans experience awe when we encounter nature, art, vistas, large structures, and more. And fortunately, the state capitol has all these! Studies show that experiencing awe can promote altruism, well-being, calm, creativity, collaboration, and kindness. When we have a sense of something greater than ourselves, we are more cooperative, positive and helpful towards others.

At this meeting we will learn about the science of awe, reflect on times of awe, experience inspiration in our surroundings and ponder how intentionally practicing awe can support positive actions toward others as well as support personal well-being. Consider how these insights can be practically applied at work to create a more effective and human workplace.

Space is unlimited this time! So feel free to bring your colleagues but please pre-register here so we create enough materials.

We welcome all participants. If you need disability accommodation, please let us know your needs by August 9th by emailing renee.smith@gov.wa.gov or by calling 360-764-3166.
